An easy recipe for tasty French crepes!
When you are French and travelling abroad
to work or to study, you necessarily face all the “clichés” regarding food from
other international people: the baguette,
wine, frogs, snails, crepes… Admittedly, not everyone is really mouth-watered
by frogs, however I have rarely seen people refusing to eat some French crepes!
What is especially cool with French crepes
is that they are so easy to make! Really with just few ingredients you have every
day in your fridge you can make yourself and your friends a bunch of crepes, be
it for breakfast or as a meal.
This is why today I want to share with you
an easy recipe to make delicious crepes and reveal your own French side!
Here is what you need for this easy recipe
(2 persons):
-Eggs x3
-Flour (300gr)
-Milk (500ml)
-That's it!
It exists variations, like adding a bit of
rum for the taste, a teaspoon of vegetal oil to make the batter non-sticky, some
butter etc… the extras are up to you.
If you want to make a crepe party (e.g. for more than 2 people), simply add 100gr of flour for each additional egg and pour milk until you have a nice liquid batter.
Step 1 :
Pour 3/4 of the flour into a large mixing
bowl, add the eggs and pour a good half of the milk on top on that. Start
whisking vigorously. Pour the remaining flour and milk and continue the
whisking.
The result should be a liquid and whitish
batter.
For a better result, you can have the batter to rest for a while (1 hour in the fridge, covered with plastic wrap) but if
you cook right after, your crepes won’t be less tasty.
Step 2:
You are already set to cook your French
crepes!
Slightly pre-heat your pan with a tiny bit
of oil (you can pour a little on kitchen paper and rub it against the pan). Use
preferably use a flat pan (you can find crepe pans but a
normal one will do the job as well).
Take some crepe paste in a ladle and pour
it onto the pan whilst rotating the pan in circles to spread the batter properly
and cook each side for a couple minutes at medium heat.
Et voilà! Your first French crepe! I told
you it was an easy recipe! Fortunately it is not the last!
As I said, just use your imagination to
fill your crepe with whatever you want.
Here are some of my favourite combinations:
-Nutella spread, banana slices and whipped
cream
-Nutella spread and salted caramel sauce
-Just a little fruit jam
-A slice of ham with fresh goat cheese
-Tomato sauce, ham pieces, cheese and
mushrooms
-Smoked salmon and crème fraiche
If you want other ideas, you can find many other ideas!
Bon appétit! I know you're going to love this crepe recipe.
Who would you have some crepes with? Tell your friends!
